Core Critical Beliefs - Your Beliefs and Your Success

Yeah! You’re right! Another Rush Rut! First it was a pretty broad rut…very general. Then it was my SCW (Shoulda’, Coulda’, Shoulda’ Rut). And now CORE CRITICAL BELIEFS!

And I’m still waiting for my first Comment. (I’m beginning to feel like I’m somewhere far out there 😉 and no one hears me.)

I’m gonna’ keep slinging this stuff out there. I gotta’ say it, even if you don’t think you need to hear it!

Today maybe a shot across your bow…IF YOU’RE NOT SUCCESSFUL IT’S BECAUSE YOU’RE PROBABLY NOT LISTENING!

In my 60+ years since college, I’ve met a lot of successful people! Scuba divers (actually met Jacque Cousteau and dove with him); lacrosse players (played against Syracuse and, as a middie, I guarded Jim Brown); bluegrass musician (I spent time with Bill Monroe [the Father of Bluegrass Music] as he examined a mandolin I had just bought]); in sales training, Dave Sandler (mentor, boss, colleague and friend.) and as a volunteer, I worked with Eunice Shriver as she established the Special Olympics in Baltimore County.

I drop those names because I think all of them were successful in large part because they had a collection of CORE BELIEFS!

They all had DESIRE! They needed to be successful at what they were doing. They had long since passed ‘want’, Their passion for what they were doing made it an essential part of themselves.

Their OUTLOOK was very positive! When they looked at themselves in the role they were playing they felt proud of how they showed up in that role! When you are asked what you do, do you reply, with a smile, “I’m a salesperson!”?

Both of those qualities reinforced the level of COMMITMENT they had leading to their success. They were willing to consistently act in support of their role, even when it was difficult, inconvenient, or uncomfortable. They were ALL IN!

They took RESPONSIBILITY for their behaviors in pursuit of success. None of them made excuses for their performance and didn’t blame others, the state of the world or any other external factor. No excuses, rationalizations or deflections. They accepted that it was on them!

Putting it all together demanded that they have PROCESS(es) to guide their journey. If they had partners in their day-to-day, their partners were the processes and cadenced behaviors they followed!

Take note: Like you they put their shoes on one foot at a time! No supes in that group!

As such, regular day-to-day s^*t may get in the way.

It’s possible negative beliefs like a high need for approval, inconsistent behaviors, ineffective processes or rescuing others from games (to name a few) get in the way. Upon realizing the negative belief they might have acted to put it aside or manage how it affected them in their day-to-day.

Review your OMG evaluation. It will point you toward some indicators of the negative beliefs you have causing barriers to your journey to success!

Let me know how I can help!
